I mistyped my PIN (yes PIN, you can have only a 4 or 6 digit number, not a real password) into my bank app too many times and had to reset it. I was prompted the secret question “what is the name of your childhood best friend?” This alone would have given me (or anyone) access to my bank account. I forgot what the answer was and had my account locked after a few attempts.

How was I to prove my identity? Call the 1-800 number and the automated system asked for my account number or any credit/debit card number, the numbers in my postal code, my phone number, and my birthday. THAT’S IT. Account unlocked and was able to set a new password PIN. So many people know or can easily find out this information.

I use very strong digital security everywhere that allows it, but of the hundreds of accounts I have, my bank is the least secure and does not allow any stronger security even if you want it!

Every fucking “select the squares” Recaptcha I do I end up failing multiple times. Am I a mf robot or do other people experience this too?

This would make a ton of sense if your choice of Lemmy instance were not just that; a choice. It’s not a characteristic innate to your being that you’re born with or something.

You can choose to associate with whatever instance you want and swap it up with another account somewhere else if you want at any time (you can prob keep the same username if you want too).

I spent >10 years of my youth playing a sport competitively. I don’t think I ever watched a professional game to completion. Unlike pretty much all my teammates, I just could not have cared less.

Play the sport myself? Fun, sure! Watch someone else play? Uh, why?

I think it’s great that people enjoy watching sports. I dunno why but it just bored the hell out of me.

Guessing Intel contracted out their warranty to Asus, who were willing to do it for the least $$ (since Asus probably knows their administration of the program wouldn’t cost much with all their denials)?

I love me some bullet trains, but there is a certain distance that makes planes way more viable.

There should be a lot more (and higher quality) high speed rail between cities of moderate distance, however.
