They were protesting the right people, getting attention, but consistently the messaging was vaguely gestures the system, Wall Street, bankers. We can speculate why that messaging wasn’t clear or didn’t get out, but we have an opportunity right now to correct that mistake.

Agreed. And I want groups like this to succeed. But we need a single, easily digestible message that can encompass all of these issues under one roof. That issue, imo, is wealth inequality. But now it all comes down to phrasing. It’s an issue that isn’t hard to get people on board with if, and only if, we are careful with messaging and branding. I wish I was joking, but that’s the world we live in. Not the one where I demand everything, get nothing, and keep being frustrated that it never changes. It’s time to adapt or continue the cycle of losing.

Why would they? Ineffectual protests with disparate, unclear goals. More useful to keep them so there’s at least a harmless resistance to redirect energy toward.

Adding social issues as a non-negotiable factor is self-defeating. Remember: all issues are class issues. As someone who lives in the suburbs in the Midwest as an adult who can’t drive - yes it’s a fucking nightmare. I lived in NYC and just lived near subway stations, best time of my life. SoCal is a close second, I lived in a city that was walkable/bikeable to anything - including the ocean. To say the suburbs were a shock is about as equal as my depression is to it still today. I’m an artist so fortunately I at least have that to do at home, the depression means it’s working right?
