I think for Germany it’s simply the fact that our infrastructure grew in large parts before the invention of the car, plus it’s, compared to the US, very densely populated. So it’s easier to create a useful rail system, there isn’t enough space in the cities for to many cars, even though there are way to many for my taste.
When the idea that we live on in the memories of the people who liked us, means sth to you, I would keep them. Every time you stumble over their entry this memory gets reactivated. I think that is a nice thing.
My grandmother died 40 years ago and she told me, when I was very little, to fold the seems of the coffee filter before you put it in. Everytime I make coffee I think about her because of that.

Be prepared for age-related farsightedness! No changes if my aging body irritated me as much so far. I think mainly because of the abruptness of how that set in. It felt like an almost instant change, people showing me things on their phone and I couldn’t read it anymore. Taking pictures of fineprint to zoom in etc.
The thing is, saving is, in large parts, a habit thing. you stop thinking/planning about/with that money you put away. especially if you put it in something you don’t have immediately access to. And the earlier you start the smaller the amount you “have” to put aside.
