  • There’s someone posting a pretty well-crafted intro to Linux series here on Lemmy. Look for that and go to the linked website and dive into the parts that you find interesting. I think they post a course chapter per day in the format of (approximately) “Day 15: Topic for that day.”

I’ve skimmed some of the course material and thought it useful for beginners. I’m really happy that they keep posting each month.

  • Get into therapy. The best time to start was years ago. The next best time to start is now.

I had all kinds of anti-social coping mechanisms. Life was challenging in ways that made me an asshole. I’ve been able to unravel it about 97% and have made huge strides in other areas. I didn’t think I’d ever be where I am today. Do yourself a favor and find someone you trust (it might not be the first therapist you consult) and work on yourself.

  • The new express route between San Jose and San Francisco will stop at 11 stations instead of seven, and take 59 minutes instead of an hour and five minutes.

But going electric is so woke. There can’t possibly be real-world benefits! /s

Because the trains are now quieter both onboard and in adjacent neighborhoods, it also might mean that more people are willing to live near the tracks. “I think they’re going to enable more development around the stations,” Steve Heminger, who represents San Francisco on the Peninsula Corridor Joint Powers Board that operates Caltrain, told the San Francisco Chronicle.

    A feel-good story all around.

  • I recommend talk therapy. I think a majority of people could benefit from it, though a smaller ratio of people genuinely need it. I need it. It helps me maintain a sense of balance. I slowly unravel without it. Sounds like it might be helpful for you.

A word of advice in this area: you might need to meet with multiple people before you find the right fit. If it feels off with a person, don’t be afraid to shop around to find someone with whom you feel more comfortable. I’ve had a roughly 50% success rate finding the right fit in decades of therapy. One change was when I moved, one was when a therapist retired. I’ve had three that were right so far. And I’ve had three that were clearly not the right fit. Good luck!
