What they are doing is just nonsense. You can use the four normal constants: gravitational, speed of light, plancks constant, boltzman constant, or the Planck ones, also four (time, mass, length, temperature). What they do is just rewrite the G, c and h-bar, the only ones that appear here, in their equations and it turns out just only two appear in the equations. Which two? Planck length and “energy”, where planck energy is a combination of time and mass… so it is still three! All this nonsense to try to say something of no particular interest: if you look at a very small subset of expressions you can probably redefine some constants conviniently to get rid of others.
Not the person you were replying to, and don’t understand exactly what you mean with port and device id. But if it changes every time, -ish, you plug it in, do you mean like /dev/sdX device names? If so, then maybe look at /dev/disk/by-TYPE/ and use those instead? You have stuff there which is the same each time you plug in.
Stop doing Fallout 1 or 2 first person, I want this!
I have been forced to use mac now for like a year, and I don’t get the whole “just works” opinion of it. Like I have had so many issues with just basic stuff. Turning off mouse acceleration and the mouse still feels all slimy. Highest mouse speed is so slow and setting it higher requires some crazy tricks, which also does not work consistently through boots. It can’t wake up a lot of monitors, I have to turn them off and on manually. If it cannot connect to a monitor properly but tries, it like disables your keyboard for a few seconds while trying. Some items in the settings menu take a long time to load, as in if I reboot, log in, open settings, there is no mouse settings.
Did not want to switch from windows 98 SE to XP, so went with linux instead.
How do you spell ed
with five letters? smh
Looks like it, yeah! Thanks!
Don’t know the name… It was on DOS, exploring a castle or something, your character was the spade character from cards, and in one of the first rooms you find a… helmet, or was it sheild?
JD Vance? Vice President pick for Donald Trump. He said something like he was one among “men who enjoy their sofas more than their wives”, and then it became a meme to joke about what way he enjoyed sofas. And since he has been such a target for memes, I just assumed it could be him.
I’m in the opposite position now. I see a bunch of memes about vans and have no idea what is going on. Is it JD Vance again? Did he fuck a van too? What happened?
Do you dd the device directly, and while it is running for this?
So you get to leave as soon as you are done? Do the others not get to do that?
I’d say this happens everywhere, with some exceptions maybe. Like I used to be in academia, it’s generally a stressful environment since you are 100% responsibe for everything. There is freedom in that too, but stressful.
Now I work in an office. There are some that take any chance they get to relax for a bit, socialize, snd so on. I don’t, I go there to work. I’m a bit introvert, so I don’t socialize much, but I put in some effort not to appear antisocial, but that is it.
I like my work, as in the tasks I do give me some satisfaction. I do it for me. I don’t socialize or relax at work because I happen to perfer the tasks. I know I’m lucky here, a lot of people do not get to work jobs like this. My collegues probably do not think the same way about their jobs, and I don’t blame them.
What I don’t get with what you are saying is the following. If everyone is “slacking off”, you get to do your work. I suppose you are not in a position where doing the tasks are satisfying enough to you, and that is why you’d want the others to do the tasks as well. But if you don’t get that satisfaction from doing the tasks, don’t you sympathize with your coworkers? They too probably do not get the satisfaction they’d prefer from the job alone, just like you? The difference between you and them is maybe then in the desire to socialize at work.
If you, unlike them, do not have any way of getting some base level of satisfaction at work, by the tasks alone or by some other means, and instead start resenting them for trying to get that satisfaction, then if you have to opportunity to change your line of work may help. People will probably still be the same, but maybe you won’t resent them?
Isn’t that the one where the guys who are supposed to be engineers do not even seem to know what a capacitor or battery is? Like they unplug the device and it is still showing signs of being “on”, and they say “what does that?” to imply it must be time travel.
I very rarely stop watching movies. I have suffered through some awful movies. But this was so stupid I just couldn’t continue. Me and my partner now have a running joke where if we unplug like a power cord with a little light powered by a capacitor then we point to it and go “look, time travel”.
I had two interactions with the same type of realization as a kid.
One of them was the tough and sort of school bully, who one day during the days of yule preparation at school went up to me and tried to probe me on how difficult making candles was because it was gonna be his turn soon.
The second one is more similar to yours. Summer camp thing. One guy I was in the same class as in school was playing tough during the camp. Did not interact a lot with him then, just noticed it, like he did not need a teddy or stuff like the other kids brought. Then we are back at school, after camp, he is not back. I hear from somewhere that he got severly home sick during camp, and had a hard time processing it. Later he did show up to school again, with his mom dropping him off. It was horrible. She tried to leave and he just cried and screamed. I think they tried it a few times more, but he just sat in a corner crying. A year or so later I see him back at school again, retaking that year.
Which parts are OpenTelemetry for? Is Prometheus Agent, Prometheus Server and Grafana not enough?
How much delay could you live with between syncs? If it’s not important to be immidiate, just an end-of-the-day thing you could cronjob the rync with the update flag every so often.
Good thing you solved it, then it feels better to try and make this joke:
The reason it’s not working is because you are on the wrong network, that is nacho’ wifi.
I do agree the whole paper is bull. Equations (1) and (2) are strictly speaking wrong, but you’d see these kinds of expressions if you are talking informally about these things. (1) should be a Riemann tensor, so its mostly wrong. For (2) it is a bit more general than R=0, since you could have Einsteinian manifolds and can make that redefinition. But yeah, without explaining anything, it’s just nonsense.
