Yeah that part’s a confusing mess. I moved to Linux on my gaming PC a year ago and have been pleasantly surprised multiple times but not with installers!

Many games launch with improper implementations, causing problems. Is not denuvos fault but it is one more thing to go wrong
Resources used for implementing denuvo and funds for ongoing support take away from the game development itself creating the possibility of less of a game. Denuvo is a subscription, so companies have to keep paying for it. Now they have to charge more for DLC to recover those costs. In both situations, the gamers suffer more than the companies.
DRM in general means you can’t own that thing. Steam is easily cracked if steam went out of business but firaxis or denuvo? If they go under without patching the game then it’s dead forever.
I don’t know if anyone has done a study on denuvos effect on game sales, but there have been many studies on piracy itself that show not only does piracy not steal sales, it helps promote good games through word of mouth and the demo->purchase pipeline where users want online features after trying the game. Bad games don’t get any boost but i think civ7 is safe there.
Only for streaming and I’m just brainstorming, I don’t actually know how it would work. I’m just thinking about what mbin needs to be truly next generation rather than just a Reddit replacement
Reddit didn’t replace anything directly, it innovated. And whatever comes after will have to innovate as well
From a moderator perspective it seems essential to have a microblogging section, because otherwise people make entire posts for simple questions or personal achievements. That plagues Reddit, drags down the whole site.
I still think it’s missing something though, streaming video service support. Mbin’s idea of combining known socials works great in that respect. Text and image, but needs video support. P2P maybe, no storage needed.
It’s my limit too lol. The expansion goes too far in openness
Reddit just banned me, a moderator, for fighting bigotry just because one of my responses to bigotry looks like bigotry itself in a vacuum. The rest of the mod team is appealing for me but this could be the last straw.
I do 5x more mod actions than the second place mod so the community right now is headed to the dump.
I like variety even in black tea, so twinnings is the most by volume in my kitchen
Good enough= My day is shit, My week is shit, My life has been shit, but it’s not as shit as other people so I don’t have the right.
If it’s someone i love and trust then it’s an absolute relief when they tell me to do it and walk me through the things. I WILL complain about it but only jokingly
As a reddit moderator having a Twitter like interface seems essential. Too many people on Reddit treat it like Twitter
19.4 on lemmy adds some pretty crucial modding tools though so I’m torn LoL
The worst part about snaps isn’t the fact that their packaged like Windows files, it’s that it makes updating everything on your computer confusing as fuck when you don’t really want to ever think about it.
We’re embarrassed that the little effort we managed to produce on this obviously good day of the depression cycle was worthy of thanks, so we’re trying to scuttle away from what feels like praise.
I will never play helldivers, not my style, but god damn i read the news rabidly lol
Maybe I’ll go check that out now that I’ve played both games.
The last of us was a boring shooter with unlikable characters who continually did things i wouldn’t do so i couldn’t invest myself in their story. The gameplay didn’t save it.
I would move an entire group of fighting games reddits over here but there’s no automoderator or mod toolbox equivalent. Until lemmy gets that basic functionality it’s moot to try and moderate anything at a high level
I’m using kubuntu right now. Test it out fedora for about 3 hours before I ran into a bug and went back to the KUbuntu hard drive. Normie means it just works, or at the very least googling the answer leads to good solutions. Only ubuntu has that
Job complete. Good work team
I’m on Ubuntu which is supposed to be at the least nerdy. Still hella nerdy, I just want to make memes and play games lol
