Anyways I just picked up a rifle which freed up both pistols we had for one person to wield. And let me tell you, dual wielding automatic pistols not only is completely non-functional but also makes you feel like an idiot just holding them. Completely the opposite of Halo.
This is a pretty good idea, my wife dual boots and I’ll suggest it to her as Windows keeps trashing the EFI partition.
This would work but assumes the primary use of the machine is Windows and derates your performance under Linux significantly due to USB speeds. Even if you’re storing your data on the Windows HDD, NTFS drivers are dog slow compared to EXT4 and other *nix filesystems.
Also some BIOSes are a pain to get to boot off removable drives reliably so it really depends on what your machine is.
I’ve used Linux as a primary dev system for well over a decade now, and with the current state of Windows I’d really recommend just taking the leap, keep your Windows box if you need Windows software and build a dedicated Linux workstation.

Aside from “lightweight apps in VM” this is the only solution I use now. (Unless you count Proton, but having Steam games Just Work barely feels like a “solution” as it requires zero effort on my part)
I don’t even trust Windows to dual boot off a separate disk without trying to break something anymore.
I play a lot of couch coop with my kid but adults would enjoy all these too. Most can be found under $20 on Steam and a lot are fairly lightweight games but have good coop mechanics and can be a lot of fun to sit down for an hour or two with.

Gut an AC from the dump. Replace the condenser with a tube in tube heat exchanger, using your cold water as a heat sink. Brazed plate HX if you’re feeling rich. Replace the cap tube with a TXV for better load tracking. Recharge with R290.
T Sure this is even further beyond your skill level but is the best possible way to use a source of cold to chill your apartment. You can locate it anywhere convenient, not just by the window. You could likely get a COP over 5 and be discharging the water in a fairly modest stream at around 30-40C.

Reminds me of Schneider’s stupid proprietary dongle for programming their PLCs. It’s just a CH341 in a funny shaped case that fits into the funny shaped slot on the PLC, where it plugs onto an ordinary 0.1" pin header to talk logic level serial.
Plus it has a custom USB ID of course. Probably costs $2 to manufacture, sells for almost $300 as well.
The volume could definitely be higher now, since the box sides are so bloody high that you can’t actually put anything in the truck without a ladder.
As a farmer and actual truck user everyone I know has a beat up farm truck from the 80s for actual truck use, modern truck is just a big car for comfortable city trips
I think this is what makes Fallout a love it or hate it setting.
Fallout tells often whimsical stories against the horrific backdrop of nuclear annihilation, and that’s what gives it it’s charm IMO.
I actually feel like it’s more realistic in a sense than overly grimdark settings. People are goofy, and with over 200 years since the bombs fell it’s believable that people will have some laughs and some motivations other than pure survival.
Off road gasoline is rare and varies by district, here in Canada I grew up in BC and we had “purple gas” and “red diesel” but purple gas was only sold at very specific stations, usually near parks where people would put it in ATVs and boats.
Now I live in SK and we only have “dyed diesel” which is your standard red farm stuff. You can get a discount on gasoline delivered to a farm tank, but there’s no colorant added and almost nobody does it anyways, since gasoline goes stale and isn’t used in farm equipment.
Myself I converted my remaining gasoline equipment to propane and run heating propane in it. The only gas burners left are lawnmowers, quads and a farm truck.
There’s a reason I farm with old relics, they aren’t “optimized” like the new stuff but they’re cheap and reliable to keep running.
Most of my implements don’t even have an electrical connection and some of the tractors have literally a starter motor, alternator, battery. Maybe lights if you’re lucky!
