That makes more sense. Although I think the carnivore diet is stupid, most people that are doing it or similar diets eat organ meats, many of which contain sufficient vitamin C among many other important vitamins and minerals.

Eating chicken salad with a spoon every day seems like it would cause all kinds of dietary issues.

  • Boring. Got into cab at Heathrow and wasn’t given a firearm for protection by the driver for whatever reason. Rented a car later and they didn’t have any lifted trucks. None of the cars could even roll coal!

I went to go and insult random teachers on the street, and people didn’t join in with me and threaten their lives. They even defended them! Needles to say that made me even angrier I wasn’t issued my standard citizen firearm.

In France, no one spoke English even though I spoke loudly and slowly. Naturally, I told them to go back where they’re from. I poured oil on the ground and lit it on fire as a signal for other patriots, but sadly I was alone.

The one thing I liked about Europe was how they talked about and treated immigrants. Closest to home I felt during the whole trip. How disgusting and evil immigrants are was the one conversation where I could see who the real Americans are over there.

Recognizing that things are going to bad regardless of who is elected is simple pragmatism. There’s nothing dismissive about it at all. Quite the opposite.

Harris winning the election (which, in terms of the electoral college, she’s currently on pace to narrowly lose), will not decrease the amount of active fascists in the United States, so, regardless of who wins, there’s going to be trouble and there’s going to be a lot of work to do that can’t be done with upvotes, downvotes, or social media posts.

It would be wise for people to be prepared for what is to come. Ignoring it makes it worse.

Edit: for instance, there is a man in the woods near I-75 by London, Kentucky picking random people off with a rifle right now. I’m afraid we’re going to see a lot more of that kind of stochastic terrorism, which will not simply go way if Harris wins. There are serious problems in America.

  • The apparatus around him is exactly that: evil, selfish, and smart. Project 2025 is only one example of how the mistakes of Trump’s laziness will not be repeated. There’s now a motivated and strategic fascist leadership and engaged bureaucracy ready to be emplaced as soon as he assumes power this time.

Precisely. The real ugliness and violence is currently only simmering. The election is when the boil begins. And the boilover comes after that.

Remember: if Trump wins, there will be disorder, dispersed violence, and then state violence: mass deportations and the disruption and dissolution of various dimensions of the state itself as fascism assumes the helm.

If Trump loses, there will be broad social conflict, disorder, and intensive violence, including a rise in domestic terrorism. I’m actually concerned we will see something like “The Troubles” in Ireland. Federal and state agencies and institutions will be attacked as well as infrastructure: things like power stations and bridges.

There is no threading the needle here. Either scenario results in chaos and violence. Both scenarios result in an increase in danger and a decrease in stability. There’s no winning move. We’ll think back to this moment as “the good days.” Strap in.

  • It was hardly a “PR move,” they didn’t publicize it, and it didn’t really get traction until Carli Lloyd confirmed it. I’m sure they were taking it a little easy though. That being said, the Australian women’s team lost to U15 boys 3-0 and again to another U15 boys team 7-0; Arsenal’s woman’s team lost 5-0 to a U15 boys club; the professional squad Athletic Feminino in Spain lost to a U16 boys squad 6-0; and there are many, many more examples.

I actually watch more women’s soccer than men’s, so I’m not denigrating the game or quality of play, but I think you’d agree the above represents a pretty clear trend.

  • Most professional sports in the United States don’t have any policies against women being in the sport. NBA, Football, Baseball, Hockey, etc.

None of them exclude women from playing in the professional leagues. Baseball did briefly in the middle of the 1900s, but that policy was reversed

It’s just that, for these sports, the best women in the game have not yet been better than the worst men in the game. A woman and a man of equal height and weight are still not generally physically equal. Muscle composition and growth, bone structure, etc. mean that on average, women are less strong and less explosive than men, and most popular sports emphasize those attributes.

WNBA teams would often scrimmage against male pick-up basketball players for practice, and they would also often lose. These were just random guys in the area, many of whom didn’t even play often.

The US Women’s National Team played against FC Dallas’s under-15 boys squad and lost 5-2. That USWNT went on to win the Olympics and the women’s World Cup. The Australian women’s team lost to U15 boys 3-0 and again to another U15 boys team 7-0; Arsenal’s woman’s team lost 5-0 to a U15 boys club; the professional squad Athletic Feminino in Spain lost to a U16 boys squad 6-0; and there are many, many more examples.

There is some research on evolutionary theory specifically about the vast differences in upper-body strength: “But even with roughly uniform levels of fitness, the males’ average power during a punching motion was 162% greater than females’, with the least-powerful man still stronger than the most powerful woman. Such a distinction between genders, Carrier says, develops with time and with purpose.”

There are very few sports where this would be feasible, and most if not all those sports are not well-watched and make very little money: shooting, archery, ultra-marathons come first to mind.

  • I generally support veganism, vegetarianism, pescatarianism, flexatarianism, and just broadly encouraging people to decrease their meat consumption and make better choices about their dietary animal products. Factory farming conditions being only one of many important reasons I do so.

In my opinion, PETA has single handedly done more to impede constructive conversations about the above than any other organization I can think of. If I didn’t know better, I would assume it was formed by strategists for the meat industry.

  • Because Harris’s supporters have standards.

One thing particular to Trump is the percentage of his supporters in polling that support him no matter what. Trump has maintained some of the most sustained, consistent support of any modern political candidate. His base polling numbers basically haven’t moved in like 10 years.

Trying to have his VP executed, injecting bleach, porn stars, felonies, treason, domestic use of military, anti-veteran sentiment, belittling the disabled, racist comments, sexist comments, sexual assault, etc., etc., etc. None of that meaningfully moved the needle.

You are not going to “get” Trump on anything like that. If you want him to lose support, he needs to be seen as weak, ineffective, and laughable in the eyes of his supporters. None of the above does that, because that isn’t what Trump supporters care about. They care about hurting people they don’t like or see as lesser-than. If Trump stops doing that effectively, he will lose support. But, frankly, he’s really good at it.
