Privating protests definitely had some teeth in the short term, but not in the long term. In the short term, it targeted what Reddit and other social media sites value most: user retention. By privating subreddits, people would be denied access to the content they want (while being served ads), so they’d click off the website. That’s why it’s gone now. It’s sad people are still volunteering their time for the profit of investors. I would, though, argue that privating subreddits was one of the most effective online protestings of recent history
I’ve enjoyed using the Simple Alarm Clock on F-droid, importantly for me, it requires you to hold down the shut off button for a couple seconds which helps prevent me from accidentally shutting off my alarm instead of snoozing it. Only downside for this app and possibly others is that they may not function if your device OS updates in the middle of the night.
Emulation Station Desktop Edition (ES-DE) is probably a good alternative gaming frontend similar to Playnite
I’ve decided due to running into issues as well, that my system being built on x11 for a few years means I probably wont switch to wayland until I do a fresh install to avoid any potential issues around old x11 packages i’m running
Worse than this, was their logo video for Tony Hawk’s Underground, where Eric the rival character gets attacked and pulled into the sewers by the T.H.I.N.G. and gets reduced to bones.
Sounds like your best bet is to self host an email service
If it is M1 or M2 Asahi Linux is the way to go, but it is still in development and probably not ready for your mom
Dont have it in front of me so instructions might be off, but Audacious can load any winamp skin you download, it is available as an option in the customization settings. You might have to drop it into a skins system folder on audacious, but winamp skins are one of the theme options you can pick on audacious. Looks just like winamp but the backend stuff is different (right click menu’s, etc.)
I have had success with the Simple Alarm Clock on F-Droid (not to be confused with the simple mobile tools apps). It has necessary basic features like custom alarms, increasing volume, and dismissing the alarm requires holding down “dismiss” so the chances of accidentally dismissing an alarm instead of snoozing it are much lower. The only time it seemingly failed me was after an overnight android update (samsung), where it didn’t work until the phone was unlocked.
sent from my Xcover6 Pro.
Replaced my xcover, which replaced my lg g5. Wish it got more love in the foss OS department. Love all the hardware features but dont love samsung. First party support for a phone like this though is a benefit
