HOW DARE YOU ROWLING IS LITERALLY MURDER
You’re not paying to see ads. They’re just subsidizing the cost of the service.
There are several "new YouTube"s. The problem is getting people to transition to them. And this is intended to do exactly that.
That’s the exact opposite of what most people want from an app like this.
I see a lot of people saying “but that’s how creators get paid”
And they’re not wrong. But they put themselves in this position when they uploaded their videos to servers owned by one of the worst corporations in the world, with massive privacy implications, and no alternatives.
I watch them on other platforms when they make it available.
Yet, they use
Brave.Chrome
FTFY
Just disable the ads, crypto and telemetry and suddenly none of those things are a problem anymore, just like Firefox.
Sure we can but will we? No.
Twitter has only lost ~10% of it’s userbase after repeatedly abusing its own users. Reddit probably less. After everything we’ve learned about Meta, tens of millions of people signed up on day 1 to join their new service, Threads. Google Chrome still has like 80% market share.
Changing is honestly a trivial ask, but we won’t, because no one cares.
I pretty much just assume “Free To Play” games are full of microtransactions, is that wrong?
E: to be clear, I don’t think microtransactions are an inherently bad thing. In fact, if people want to make games where other people with more money front the costs of development, I’m all about it.
What I hate is being reminded every 5 minutes that it has garbage skins that I can pay IRL money for.
It really depends on the vehicle. The fastest ones (Kia/Hyundai) will charge 10-80% in ~18 minutes (350kW max). Something like a Nissan Leaf can take an hour or more.
Mastodon currently comprises about 90% of Fediverse users so I’ll have to disagree on that one.
I mean we’re still a long long way from reaching mainstream status.
You know what, I never treated women that way but I certainly gained a lot of empathy for them after that.
There weren’t many gay people when I was growing up. At least not openly. I was first introduced to some gays at a gay bar. They basically made me feel like a juicy steak in a meat market (not in a good way). Several comments about my dick within 10 seconds of meeting them.
Today I have many gay friends that I enjoy their company but that was a huge setback for me.
