Its mostly just that I want a Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim with a sci-fi setting. A solid story, lots of side-quests, and a dynamic world that reacts to the player. I’d probably enjoy a modern metropolitan criminal setting as well for an RPG like GTA’s settings but Elder-Scrolls/3D-Fallout gameplay but you never see that at all.
Space is cool though.
I wish there were more new sci-fi RPGs of that quality.
I do hear CP2077 is good now and I keep meaning to play it.
TBH I’ll probably end up enjoying Starfield once I get around to trying it as well.

You asked me a question that was clearly implying an attack on my character. If that wasn’t your intention I think you phrased your post egregiously poorly.
The reason I ask is because I see quite a number of people saying that it’s “everyone else’s fault for being immoral and stupid”, and I believe we should be looking more inward, or at least assigning fault to the ones who are responsible (the “powers that be if you will) instead of pointing the finger at our fellow brothers and sisters.
Inward: I know I have absolutely no desire to participate in a civil war, or experience fascism and the death of democracy in the US. I worked hard to try and help bring about an election result that would prevent dooming the earth.
Powers that be: You mean conservative/centrist democrats? My hatred for them is very intense. But they aren’t people who choose to, through inaction, allow fascism to win. They just legitimately and unironically thought centrism and status quo politics would win them the election. They’re greedy, arrogant, and retarded but they thought they were going to stop fascism with more status quo liberalism.
There are a few staunch centrists that have even admitted that they should have moved leftward. Even that fucking piece of shit James Carville admitted to that. To bad its too late. Stupid fucking losers.
The non-voters demonstrated actual apathy towards the possibility of fascism winning. I don’t know that I can really forgive them, my disgust for “I don’t care who fascism hurts” is too intense to worry about how smug and also dumb liberals are.
Now, would the democrats have tried left populism if they saw it was their only way to win? Probably. It certainly seemed like Harris early in her campaign was moving in that direction before the democratic consultants showed up and they started wasting their time courting moderate republicans and pushing a weak watered down message.
But, this is just my opinion. And you are entitled to yours.
We are also entitled to critique opinions. Letting opinions be spouted without challenge has consequences. Though I’ll concede I don’t know how much it matters anymore to me considering how doomer I am now.

TBH, you probably aren’t significantly worse than average by the mere metric of being able to read and write, depressing knowing how many functionally illiterate people there are.

I don’t know what the solution is, I can only hope its mostly just the “extreme ignorance” type of stupidity and not evil or “willing ignorance” stupidity and after experiencing the suffering they’ve enabled for themselves that they put 2 and 2 together and things maybe recover partially or enough to prevent the end of human civilization as we know it.
I don’t agree with the scolds who claim that every GenAI use is immoral by default, but I do think that the tech itself when applied within capitalist practices is immoral as it’s meant to deskill and disenfranchise workers.
All capitalist practices are immoral in functionally the same way. Capitalism works to use worker exploitation but also use of the commons for private gain. Generative AI is now part of the commons that capitalists will inevitably use for profit. The fight over worker disenfranchisement in this case was functionally instantly lost the moment generative AI became usable at all.
Anyway, any defense you can make for your “little indie game” can be made by mega-corporations using GenAI just as well.
They already do and are going to regardless. In fact, using Generative AI will likely become functionally mandatory given a capitalist market system. If you take on labor costs that other firms don’t, then you will not be able to compete. This applies to big corporations and small indie devs already. A company wont abstain from Gen AI if their competition wont and all it takes is one company to start using Gen AI.
A person working to make profit might not actually believe in copyrights. Nor hold any ideological kinship with the system they exist in.
Further, virtually all resources to do anything originated in “the commons” and the sort of person who’s trying to produce a game as their means of making money probably are just trying to get away from a miserable 9 to 5 (or not live under a bridge).
People who work and give away their shit for free are good people, but they are also usually people who are financially comfortable already. Its not right to dictate what resources some individual game dev is trying to use to make a living off their work.
Reading these comments I feel a sense of dread. You are all experiencing survivor bias. Initially when I ran into barriers I gave up for like a year before bothering to try Lemmy again.
If you don’t want Lemmy to serve as an actual counter to corporate controlled social media if it means letting in “normies” then you are content with corporate controlled social media continuing to dominate our lives. Which sounds about right for humanity. The smugness is vile.

I don’t know that I agree that you have to but sure that’s not an unreasonable policy either. I guess it depends on the specifics for me.
Assuming we’re talking about a friend/acquaintance, a person can be genuinely sorry but sort of be too dim to meaningfully improve their behavior. That said, if they don’t at least give a good faith effort to improve then my patience will wear thin and I’ll probably want to be around them as little as possible, even if I end up ultimately forgiving them on the emotional side of things.
This is why you run stuff locally or not at all.
