  • Capitalists:

The capitalists do trickle down onto the rest of America, it just isn’t prosperity. Even worse, we export our sociopathic market capitalist behavior, encouraging other nations to treat their citizenry like disposable capital batteries for their elites… and our multinational oligarch leeches.

I feel shame for what we’re doing to the world every damn day, spreading market capitalist hypergreed and tools of mass death like a fucking virus.

This is probably the number one reason I’d be giddy about it.

Our species needs to learn some humility.

If they didn’t come in peace. We’re boned, and everyone’s problems are over.

If they did, at some point they’re still going to need to use corrective action on our arrogant monkey asses.

    Because all human history.

As an adult, it’s the biggest plothole in Trek to me. Species so far ahead of us taking our lead only a couple hundred years after we took a break bombing each other and managed to cobble together a single, shitty warp drive a Vulcan toddler could probably improve the design of at a casual glance. If there was a consortium of species, at our stage we’d correctly need to beg to get provisional Jr. membership after 1,000 years of probationary observation.

  • As someone on their second foldable, fold 3 now fold 6, the crease is truly, I promise you, a non issue. Unless you’re doing detained drawing with the S-pen, not my use case, it has no meaningful effect on the experience. For single person consumption, you almost have to consciously try to position it in a way that’s visible when watching a video, for example.

I’d actually miss the crease, as it gives the screen a kind of magic book-esque quality. The biggest problem with foldables in my experience is the odd aspect ratio universal to all of them, something a tri fold design may actually mitigate.

Humans aren’t saying that, our habitat is in response to our actions, as translated by scientist’s measurements.

We can stop. We should stop. We won’t stop.

If that means you want to call our planet an eco-terrorist, that’s actually kind of funny. This isn’t about humans killing humans. This is about Humans attacking our only habitat as we rely on it for every breath we take and every bite we take, and our habitat responding predictably to our actions.

It’s not about justice. It’s about homeostasis. The guy and possibly his kids will be fine in their luxury climate bunkers as the world grows more bleak and they bark orders remotely until there’s no one left alive or dumb enough to keep listening.

The thing is though, what we’ve done and are doing right now will take millions of years to heal. Nothing to Earth’s 3.8 billion year old story of life, but effectively eternity to our monkey brains. I just don’t see our species putting down our shovel and living within our ecological means when that would mean necessary decline in our quality of life and intentional population control over time. We were warned for a century. We are feeling the effects. Scientists are noting new runaway effects conservative estimates didn’t account for. We need to stop 30 years ago, and we won’t even stop today.

I don’t consider it justice, I consider it wholesale refusal as a species to live within our ecological means. We just keep digging, and the consequences, the physics, don’t care why.

    Capitalism: “Growth or die!”

    Earth: I mean… If that’s how it’s gotta be, you little assholes🤷👋🔥

It’s kind of gallows hilarious that for all the world’s religions worshipping ridiculous campfire ghost stories, we have a creator, we have a remarkable macro-organism mother consisting of millions of species, her story of hosting life going back 3.8 billion years, most living in homeostasis with their ecosystem.

But to our actual, not fucking ridiculous works of lazy fiction creator, Earth, we literally choose to treat her like our property to loot, rape, and pillage thoughtlessly, and continue to act as a cancer upon her eyes wide open. We as a species are so fucking weird, and not the good kind.

To be fair, there’s a lot of GREAT shows that needed a few episodes to a season to really find themselves.

Rick and Morty took half a season, Supernatural was a slog for over a season until it started leaning into having fun instead of just brooding, the Doctor Who Reboot’s production values are distracting for the first season, on and on.

Honestly, the best shows seem to need to go on a bit of a vision quest early on.
