A flock of cocks crow at dawn while a murder of crows roost in their nests.
“Rooster” is a word Puritan assholes made up so they didn’t have to say “cock” and thereby admit the sexual nature of humanity. By which they, ironically, admitted the sexual nature of humanity.
For the same reason cows moo but a moose don’t cow.
Moose do actually cow. They are incredibly scary and imposing.
