Do it on dedicated communities. I don’t see why US election deserve more credit on global communities than French. German or Belgian ones.
Pretty sure there is a /c for US news and politics
There was a lot of press I read about the British and French elections. I’ve even seen some coverage of the Indian elections.
I think part of the problem is that, not only are American elections important, but they are also scheduled. Most other nations have snap elections where campaigning is on the level of months. You also have an extended party selection process which takes over half a year to finish.
American media can have dedicated election journalists churning out content for far longer than other nations, so more gets written.

Because French, German and Belgium elections don’t affect the rest of the world (or “global community” if you prefer) nearly as much as the USA ones?
I didn’t even slightly care about American politics, until they started a proxy war in my country and now whether hundreds of thousands (or even millions) of people live or die (probably) depends on the elections in USA…
Reddit’s /all is about 70% US politics right now. Much of it feels like astroturfing. I’ve been able to read around it until now, but the saturation is too much and it feels too fake.
So is politics and news subs here… Just same clowns running the same op.
Blocking their shot allowed the natural discussion to resurface.
Fake news just blasting that shot into every social media. Any proepr discussion = ban hammer
Yeah, it’s an election year. Sorry about that, everyone who doesn’t have an election this year.
Personally I think discussion should certainly be permitted, so long as we try to remain somewhat civil about it.
Cool discussion about a thing designed to make you hot just by looking at it. That’s good exercise :)
Well, US politics are more important than those of most other countries, because they still are a huge world-wide influence. But once enough climate change related disasters happened, everything will change anyway (for the worse). If you’re young enough to experience the resulting chaos in a couple of decades, you should start preparing for that now (e.g. saving up, not buying houses near oceans, and so on), instead of worrying about more temporary and short-lived political decisions. Unless they directly and significantly affect your life in the short term already, of course. Humanity does and will not be able to fight the climate change based on past and current observations, so buckle up.
They set the narrative by over flowing social with trash fake news articles about nothing
Its good to talk about it. Idk if Lemmy has a wide enough range of political views for interesting discussions. It might just end up being lefties agreeing on most things.
Yes it’s all propaganda.
One set of propaganda is based on lies.
The other set is based on emotion.
I don’t buy into lies like so many people seem to.
While I also won’t buy into emotion, since I try to use logic and reason as much as possible, I will support those who don’t have a campaign built upon lies, deceit, and felonies.
