For me is a coin toss between PS1 and 360. The silver goes to the PS2. Currently owner of a Xbox series x and a switch. The switch was meh and I like the X fine enough mostly because I can play old games at 60 fps.

PC. Don’t have to pay for online play, games are cheaper, I can mod and I can emulate older games.

That’s not a console. And has drawbacks. I have a gaming laptop and still prefer console, it’s a much more streamlined experience, PC updates, shoddy releases and compatibility issues are a huge annoyance. I almost never had to deal with those on console, plus is cheaper for me playing on console.

I think this is largely a matter of what you grew up with.

Older than what you had = primitive tech

Came out after you grew up = not as “cool” as what I had

Despite never owning one (we were a Nintendo house) I’d argue it’s the PS2. An easy thing to forget is that the PS2 was one of the cheapest DVD players for a very long time and that got video games into a lot of houses that wouldn’t have had them. Add to that some of the best games of tent pole franchises GTA3, FFX and FFXII, Kingdom Hearts, God of War, MGS3, Guitar Hero, and Tony Hawk. That generation also cemented the twin stick controller design as the standard. I really think the PS2 defined the rubric for consoles to come

JK, it’s the Wii. I helped install one in a nursing home when it came out, what other video game console had that kind of appeal? /s (but only kinda)

I’d say PS2. The sheer amount of unforgettable classics and the fact that it was the best selling console of all time.

The Wii U was an amazing concept that got abandoned too early. My Wii U which I love still collects dust for this reason.

NES for how many consoles made it into homes. Genesis for helping push the console wars. PS5 because it’s the easiest gaming experience I’ve had.

PlayStation 3; it’s probably that I more or less grew up with it but that thing truly can do anything. It’s almost not even a console, more like a full-on media center.

The weird architecture brought it down a bit, though. Most games just didn’t run that well.
