        TBH, the opening scene (the one in which Murphy is almost killed) is much worse for me. Not only because of the violence/gore, but because it’s extremely sadistic, with villains laughing while shooting at hime. Mu 12 y/o watched that scene at the cinema and yes, it traumatized me.

          Most certainly worse with the intended malice. All the more ironic that many critics and audiences didn’t catch on that the over-the-top violence was meant as a satire according to director Paul Verhoeven. In the peak of Arnold/Stallone/Van Damme we got this absurdist dystopian action flick. Similar occurred with his adaptation Starship Troopers.

          Yeah I have seen it in the cinema as well, 17 at the time and I was literally sick to the stomach watching that scene.

    If you’re familiar with his roles in ER and X-Files, he must give off strong as hell “literally rip my flesh apart” vibes, to casting directors.
